Big ideas Module Overview

In this module we will present an overview of cybersecurity. We will discuss  what needs to be protected/secured about information and why.  The focus will be on  terminology, in particular the CIA (Confidentiality, Integrity, Availability) Triad and the concepts of asset, threat, and vulnerability.  You will also log into the Netlab system  and learn  the core commands of the Linux OS.

By the end of this module you should be able to:

  1. Provide definitions for confidentiality, integrity and availability in the context of information security, 
  2. Apply definitions of confidentiality, integrity, availability  in a given scenario, 
  3. Demonstrate basic skills in using core commands in the operating system  Linux.
